Columbus established their reputation as one of the first online travel insurance companies, providing travel Insurance direct to the public since 1988.
Review
The Columbus Direct UK site used to be the benchmark for online insurance, but this is no longer the case. The site has been left behind in the 1990’s by more functional, usable and simple sites. This is mainly due to the lack of updating and enhancements over the past few years.
Interestingly, the site doesn’t fail in the reliability of the platform, which is surprising considering it’s built on ColdFusion (nerd-speak for outdated technology). Where it does fail the user is in the organisation of the information, the communication and the usability of the purchase path rendering the overall experience like stepping back in time.
