Blue Cross is a not-for-profit association that provides health, travel and life insurance to over seven million Canadians. The website however, is a collection of pop-ups, redirects and altered URL’s that render the site a vast mess of navigation and almost impossible to purchase a policy.
Review
The Blue Cross website seems to be the result of an organisation that is growing at such a rate that the individual departments are not communicating with each other. The site is very loosely structured and purchasing a policy becomes very difficult with a number of new windows and confusing paths to the same content.
In the two most direct paths to purchasing a policy the purchase path was six-seven click and two new windows away. In some regions you can’t even purchase online, but have to visit a travel agent or use the phone.
The shocking thing is that it’s almost impossible to get a detailed explanation of the policy coverage and pricing and when you find it… guess what. It’s a pop-up to a pdf you can download.
