Travel Guard claims to serve more than six million travellers annually, but only a small percentage of this number purchase insurance through the website. The majority of Travel Guard’s business comes through providing insurance products through their agent network.
Review
The Travel Guard website started out well and has a homepage that provides a nice shortcut to getting a quote and on into the purchase path. However, the site quickly degrades due mainly to the poor navigation, confusing layout and pure overload of products available.
With over 18 products available through the website, Travel Guard were always going to have a difficult job organising the information on the website in a simple and intuitive way. However, the site as it stands is more of an assault on the senses than a travel insurances provider.

Cruise Tour and Travel
The comprehensive package that includes medical coverage for those with pre-existing medical conditions.
Protect Assist
This is the standard package that covers the cancellation and personal liability. If you purchase when within 15 days of your initial trip deposit, it includes coverage for pre-existing medical conditions and bankruptcy.
Cruise Guard
Cove designed for travellers on a cruise and covers the entire trip including coverage for air travel, missed connections, medical expenses and more.
Travel Guard Essential
This is the standard package with just the bare essentials including 24-hour emergency travel services.
Travel Guard Essential Expanded
This is the standard package plus extra coverage for children 16 and under, financial default, terrorism and pre-existing medical conditions.
Air Ticket Protection
Ideal for travelers who want to protect their airline ticket investment. Covers ticket change fees charged by the airlines and includes few added benefits like trip interruption, delay and baggage coverage.

I was asked to send in my unused plane tickets (to be reimbursed for a canceled flight) and when they sent me a $30.00 check for my bus fare, and did not mention my flight reimbursement ($400), I started calling. Oddly enough, every time I call my agent is in training, supervisors are in meetings and to date I have left 4 messages over 2 weeks and have not received a call back. I am still trying to speak with someone!
