Ouch travel insurance

Ouch.com.au is a new site in the online travel insurance market that is owned and operated – despite their best efforts to hide it – by QBE insurance. At first glance this website appears very slick and efficient, but it's what's under the hood that counts.

This new site represents a new trend in online travel insurance that sees underwriters such as QBE repackaging their existing products as another brand altogether that they can then offer direct to the customers. The good news is, this can only be good for us, the consumer. The bad news is, the underwriters who are following this trend know very little about the online experience of purchasing their products. In other words, the websites are almosty impossible to use.

While this website is quite soft on the eyes (the layout and colour are quite nice), the most important parts of the website simply do not work. To give you specific examples, if you are on a mac you are barred from entering the purchase path because the site dows not recognise that you have cookies switched on. But it get's worse, even if you're on a PC you cannot get through the purchase path at all. Following a litany of poor usbaility examples, the final step (at least the last one I could reach) results in an error. No matter what you enter!

Thankfully, the offline processes are good and I got a quote over the phone in half the time it took me to make it through the site far enough to break it.

Annual Multi-trip

For people planning several holidays in a year, this type of policy can save you time and money. There is no limit to the number of trips abroad over the year, but each trip has a maximum 42 day duration.

Australian

This policy covers domestic travel within Australia for long up to 12 months.
